A Crime Against Humanity

Today I feel shame. I feel shame that in the name of my religion innocent men, women, children, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters were slaughtered. I feel shame that the last words from these barbarians was "Allah is great" as they extinguished innocent human life.

The first word in the Koran is "Read". I say to everyone who reads this post and especially to any Muslim who reads this post: Read

  1. — I feel ashamed —

    I feel ashamed.
I feel ashamed when I turn on the TV to see people bashing Allah (SWT)
I feel ashamed when terrorists take innocents hostage in the name of Allah.
I feel ashamed every time I see someone kill in the name of Allah.
I feel ashamed every time my so called muslim brothers and sisters go around with bombs in the name of Allah!
I feel ashamed when muslims feel the need to use violence to defend Allah.
I feel ashamed when a child is killed in the name of Allah…

I feel ashamed that governments oppress people in the name of Allah.
I feel ashamed that muslims are not doing much to uphold the true words of Allah!
I feel ashamed that such atrocities have occurred in the name of Allah…

    I feel ashamed.
    Very ashamed.

    Peace.

there is a lot of criticism on muslims globally for not standing up and saying more against these things.

and many who do, unfortuanately, speak in a voice foreign and strange to us, as incomprehensible and inadequate and inaccurate as the critics themselves.

seems there is less and less room for moderate people between fanatics and extremists on either side. we really need a louder and more prominent voice…

Mash, you are no more ashamed that I, as an American, am at the devastation my government has wrought in the name of “liberty and freedom”.

    Wa Alaikum Salaam Mash,

There are times I feel ashamed simply to be a human being. We are capable of so much more. Every. Single. One of us.

Can you imagine what this world would be like if we had the psychic space to actually do something other than push back against those who seem to have no other agenda than destruction, of themselves as well as others?

And I would add one more word to “Read.” And that is “Think” (which is what reading really is, isn’t it?)

    Blessings to you and yours…

timewarp, walaikum assalam. And everyone else thanks for reading this post and reading the transcript.

Reading the transcript sent chills up my spine. I guess its one thing to hear about some act of barbarism, its quite another to read it happening. It must have been traumatic in the court room to actually hear the recording. I cant imagine it – and I’m not sure I could have handled it.

Its one of those times when just going into the fetal position seems to be the appropriate thing to do. I read this at work yesterday and basically sat around for two hours afterwards staring at the wall.
