This is a very important issue raised by the blogger.
Following the brutal assassination of the founding father of Bangladesh in 1975 there was a well-organised effort by the military junta headed by Zia and the assassins and their allies, the killer Jamaat-e-Islami to totally wipe out archived documents including valuable evidences, photos, written witness accounts, formal complaints launched by the vitims, movies and video footages, etc. These factual evidences were systematically destroyed by the defeated forces of 1971 and the much feared tyrant military intelligence unit of despot DCMLA, CMLA and later self-promoting himself to presidency by a massively rigged election.
It was Zia’s order to destroy anything that had anything to do with three things, namely, Sheikh Mujib, Awami League and the War of Independence of 1971.Zia united at that ime with nefarious people like Shah Aziz, Abdul Alim and Golam Azam to annihilate the party that led Bangladesh to independence.
As a consequence today you hardly find any of the thousands of pictures and BTV footages of Sheikh Mujib and our Independence War. The government had to reach out to our foreign friends in BBC, US government, the Indian media and other Western and Russian media to recover some of he lost items.
Therefore, I ardently plea to all our foreign friends including the media to help the new democratically elected government of Sheikh Hasina retrieve the lost documents.
As far as I can remember I sent a letter to the Far Eastern Economic Review rebuking a letter from Sikander Ali. I said there that the charismatic Sheikh Mujib is the undisputed and unchallenged father of the nation and he declared the war long before March 26, 1971 on March 7, 1971.I still remember how scary it was to smuggle the letter out of the country through a foreign bound passenger to bypass the dreaded secret police of fascist Zia.
The trial of the war criminals of the 1971 Independence War in Bangladesh is one of the few cases where the perpetrators of mass genocide has gone unnoticed by the world community.
Almost all of the killers of the heinous crimes along with the assassins of Sheikh Mujib and his family members and colleagues were set free by the military brute force headed by a little known major Zia in 1975. Zia also rehabilitated most of the murderers and collaborators by inducting them in his cabinet and important government posts.
It is a matter of hope that the newly elected government has decided to try the war criminals as pledged in their pre-election manifesto. It may be recalled that the widow of Zia and former PM of Bangladesh Khaleda prized one of the most notorious killers Motiur Rahman Nizami as agriculture and then industries minister in her cabinet keeping the tradition set by her late dictator husband Zia intact.
The world has seen the trials of many infamous killers starting from the Nuremberg trials to the trial of the Khmer Rouge psychopaths.
Now it is world community’s responsibility, especially the developed countries to extend all out help and assistance to the government of Sheikh Hasina to try the war criminals of one of the least known and barely discussed inhumane genocide on fellow human beings.
It is encouraging to see the Obama administration strongly supporting democracies in South Asia. A losing war in Afghanistan under Bush is slowly but surely transforming into a win-win scenario for democracies everywhere. The killer Talibans are on the run for the first time. The ripples of change under a resolutely democratic Obama have started to hit the shores of a closed Iran which was unimaginable just a few months back. Once again, thanks Prez Obama! Democracy and rule of the majority is much stronger than the mightiest brute force under pseudo-democratic fascist forces.
Therefore, I request democracies everywhere, especially Western democracies to help Bangladesh conclude the trial of the war criminals of 1971 once and for all. As a child in 1971 I lost my uncle and grandma in the hands of the hyenas. The gaping wound inflicted on millions of families like mine in Bangladesh can only be healed by trying those animals who are still at large, for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
PAKISTANIS ARE REAL “BASTARDS” AND “MOTHERFUCKERS”. THEY SHOULD BE KILLED AND REMOVED FROM THIS EARTH. SAUDI ARABIA IS ALSO AN ISLAMIC COUNTRY AND MOTHER OF ISLAM BUT WHERE DO THEY FIGHT? WE ARE REALLY VERY HAPPY THAT THE PAKISTANIS FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY.
THEY HAVE DESTROYED THE WHOLE WORLD AND A TIME WILL COME WHEN AMERICA WILL FUCK THEM BADLY AND AFTER THAT THEY WOULD CRY “ALLAH…ALLAH…ALLLAH AND BLOODY ALLAH WITH BISMILLAH,…BISMI.. AND FUCKING CHUTIA BISMILLAH
