Nir Rosen at IraqSlogger is reporting on rumors that Moqtada al-Sadr was present at Saddam Hussein’s hanging. In fact, he might have been one of the hangmen. Apparently, that is the reason they were chanting "Moqtada! Moqtada! Moqtada!".
The pro-Baathist website printed the following pictures showing similarities between the hanging pictures and Moqtada al-Sadr. These rumors have been flying around for a number of days now. However, given the circumstances of the hanging, it is not terribly far-fetched. So, here are the pictures for what they are worth.
So, what does everyone think?

Well, I don’t think that the pictures are a strong piece of evidence, but the Shia involvement in the persecution of Saddam Hussein could make it possible that he was there…

Yohay, I am more swayed by the ring than by the upper lip. Apparently two Saudi papers are reporting this, and al Jazeera is reporting that all the guards were Mahdi Army. But who knows…

Mash, of course you have to consider that the Saudis are Sunni and hence, consider the source. However, that said, the evidence could be plausible. Also, I have been wondering about the appearance of blood when they showed Saddam dead. With hangings you’d think there would be the absence of blood. I have been wondering ‘what else’ has been happening. In the ME, revenge is an intense emotion that is easily used as an excuse for killing (well, parts of the ME).. so that begs the question; where did that blood come from? Of course, I could look at the whole hanging bit, but I do not want to. Has anyone seen it and figured out where that blood comes from? Or the behaviour of the people present at the hanging? Just curious,

Ingrid, I find it an intriguing rumor. Who knows whether its true, but that pinky ring made it worth posting.
I put it in the “Humor” catagory because of the pinky ring. It’s just so dainty :d

it is an step of the American government, to separate iran from the rest of the world, espeically from the sunni community, so that when he attacks on iran , the sunni community would come forward to help the iran, and the hanging of Saddam , is a result of 142 shia persons,

It\’s quite plausible that it was indeed Muqtada; if you were Muqtada, wouldn\’t you want to be there?
