There’s an image in my mind of my father telling me about how emotionally invested people were in Kennedy’s election, and I sat transfixed watching the program last night with tears running down my face and thought “this really is the election of a lifetime.”

Mash bhai, is this the 30min thing that the campaign spent $7 million on? I heard it from an American in the UK.

Muhamad, yes, this is the 30 minute thing. I think the network buys cost between $3 to $4 million.

Given the tracking polls from today and the viewership, it looks like it was well worth the money to talk directly to the American people. It was a very savvy move to do it on Wednesday. That means the national tracking polls start to show a bump in Obama’s poll numbers starting Friday, then on Saturday and Sunday as all three post ad days get factored in. That locks in momentum going into election day on Tuesday.

This was a very well executed media buy. Once again, the Obama campaign showed that it can control the narrative while the McCain campaign is lurching from one tactic to the next.
