Sarah Palin: Elitist Fraud
Sarah Palin spends about as much on clothes in a couple of months as Joe The Plumber makes in four years. The Republican National Committee has spent $150,000 on Sarah Palin and her family’s clothes since she was selected as the vice presidential nominee in late August.
Some of Sarah the Hockey Mom’s notable shopping sprees:
- $49,4425.74 at Saks Fifth Avenue
- $75,062.63 at Neiman Marcus
I am going to take a wild guess here. I am going to guess that the simple folks and hockey moms she claims to represent probably do not shop at Saks or Neiman Marcus. This woman is a joke and a fraud.
The Politico reports on Sarah Palin’s excellent adventure:
The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.
According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.
The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.
The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.
Politico asked the McCain campaign for comment, explicitly noting the $150,000 in expenses for department store shopping and makeup consultation that were incurred immediately after Palin’s announcement. Pre-September reports do not include similar costs.
Spokeswoman Maria Comella declined to answer specific questions about the expenditures, including whether it was necessary to spend that much and whether it amounted to one early investment in Palin or if shopping for the vice presidential nominee was ongoing.
“The campaign does not comment on strategic decisions regarding how financial resources available to the campaign are spent," she said.

Hockey moms don’t spend hundreds of dollars on fuck-me pumps. Hockey skates are expensive enough.
Maybe that’s why she agreed to be the Veep, to get unlimited shopping spree. She really doesn’t know anything whatsoever about being a VP.
Hockey mom goes to town! See this great cartoon at the Reasons To Be Cheerful, Part 3 blog…
There was some good perspective offered on Morning Joe today regarding this. The consensus was that it was the RNC’s dollars and that it should be viewed as “costuming expense”. My arguement would be that if we take a purist view of this event, then all fund raising and attendant expense (limo’s, private jets, luxury hotels) is just as loathesome and obscene. Now, if they spent $150k on Constitutional Civics lessons and she fumbled the “role of the VP” question - then we can be outraged!
Red, “costuming expense” is the right term
How ironic that the woman who disparages those who question her abuse of power as “elitists.” She seems to believe she is some kind of royalty that is above the law. From her actions, it appears Maverick is an unethical self-absorbed abuser of public funds–no wonder Palin seems so worried about socialism, she wants all the money and power for herself.
