Cherry Blossoms In Washington DC

It was a very cloudy morning today in Washington. Even under a blanket of clouds the Cherry Blossoms looked spectacular. Three friends and I, with cameras in hand, spent a wonderful few hours this morning visiting nature’s springtime gift to Washington DC.

This little guy was also enjoying the blossoms at the Tidal Basin this morning :

Liveblog via Twitter from this morning:

8:46:46 AM: I’m headed into DC under cloudy skies to try to take some pictures of cherry blossoms before the rain starts.

9:12:55 AM: The weather is refusing to cooperate. Slight drizzle now.

9:44:03 AM: We’re finally here at the Tidal Basin. GPS location:

10:16:31 AM: – The monument:

1:16:50 PM: – Best I can do with the iPhone. The pics with the real camera will have to wait till I get back.

Thank you. Absolutely enjoyed the photos. Simply gorgeous.
They made me want to make a trip to DC next weekend. Hopefully the blossoms will still be there.

The blossoms have not peaked yet. They are supposed to peak this weekend. You will notice in some of my pictures that a lot of blossoms have not yet opened.

So, come to DC over the weekend and get the Cherry Blossoms at peak bloom. Also, we need your tourist dollars 🙂
